K3L Anticipates Return of Brayden Point
Forward moved off MSVG Injured Reserve, Crouse to waivers

Kuznetsov's 3rd Line may currently be trailing the Ice Bombers in this extended Week 1 matchup, but K3L received news yesterday afternoon that gives a dramatic boost to their early-season ambitions.

Star forward Brayden Point has begun practicing in his first line role, and may very well make his season debut by this weekend. He had been suffering through a hip injury in training camp and the preseason.

After a serious injury to star defenseman Nate Schmidt this week, K3L certainly welcomes back some production. Point, 23, had 41 goals to complement his 92 point campaign last season.

To make room for Point's return from the IR, forward Lawson Crouse has been placed on MSVG waivers. Crouse, 22, has been held point-less through two games this year. He has 38 career points through 166 games.

Haula Finds a New Home
Ice Bombers place waiver claim on former WATC forward

10/9/19

We Are The CHAMPIONS General Manager Bobbi Jo Ponterio was quoted Monday as "kicking (herself)" following her swapping of forward Erik Haula for grizzled veteran Mikko Koivu. Her hope was he would sneak through waivers to be re-acquired next week.

Cindy Porterfield had other plans.

The Ice Bombers' GM looked to fill the large void left in the wake of Evgeni Malkin's injury. While that is no easy task, the Ice Bombers turned to Haula as a stopgap measure, acquiring the rights to the speedy young forward for a claim of $250,000.

He provides depth, certainly, but has also produced at a high level in the early days of the season - picking up three goals in four games while winning 67% of his faceoffs.

In an unrelated move, Monahanjobs added third-year forward Sammy Blais after parting ways with the inactive Justin Williams.

In three games this year, Blais has four points and is carving out top-six minutes.

Red Army Signs Danault
Montreal's first-line center acquired via Free Agency among litany of league-wide moves on busy Friday

10/4/19

Phillip Danault surprisingly went undrafted despite his cozy position in Montreal.

He didn't have to wait long to find a landing spot.

After the placing of Alex Tuch on Injured Reserve on Wednesday, Camo's Red Army signed Danault with an eye-opening $2.5 million bid. Molson Canadian was also in the mix, but their bid fell short.

The league's first high-money transaction had a career-high 53 points last season. In addition to his first-line duties, he is slated to play on the first Power Play unit, as well as a penalty-killing role. He also won 56% of his faceoffs.

Around the rest of the league, many more moves were made. The Omsk Omnomnomz signed defenseman Adam Larsson after placing the suspended Dustin Byfuglien on waivers Wednesday.

Uncle Gene's Senators signed two Pittsburgh Penguins in forward Jared McCann and defenseman Marcus Pettersson. The moves were necessitated by Chicago sending defenseman Adam Boqvist (UGS's 22nd pick in the 2019 draft - 257th overall) to the AHL, along with the injury to forward Bryan Rust.

We Are The CHAMPIONS signed veteran forward Mikko Koivu. To make room for the move, forward Erik Haula was placed on waivers.

Rounding out the busy slate of transactions, Kuznetsov's 3rd Line signed young forward Lawson Crouse after placing Brayden Point on Injured Reserve.

TWDP Signs Veteran Sniper Neal
Pageau, others, placed on waivers following Monday's moves

10/7/19

James Neal is looking for a career resurrection in Edmonton following a dreadful 2018-19 season. In fact, his profile looked so bleak, he wasn't even drafted this year.

Tom Wilson Drinks Pee is taking a chance.

On Monday, TWDP won the rights to Neal with a $10,000 bid, fresh off a two-goal game for the Oilers.

Before his meager 19-point performance through 63 games last year, Neal had 11 consecutive 20+ goal seasons, including a 40-goal, 81-point campaign in 2011-12. Undoubtedly, while he remains a true buy-low candidate, this is indeed a low-risk, high-reward signing.

To make room for Neal, young forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau was placed on waivers.

In other news, We Are The CHAMPIONS made their second move in a week, signing Free Agent forward Ryan Dzingel. Rookie forward Max Comtois was placed on waivers in a corresponding move.

Lastly, Kuznetsov's 3rd Line once again made a late move, signing Russian defenseman Nikita Zadorov after placing star defenseman Nate Schmidt on Injured Reserve.
